Rs 46,994-cr plan for B'lore traffic
DH News Service, Bangalore:

The Bangalore Metropolitan Land Transport Authority (BMLTA), constituted by the State government under the framework of National Urban Transport Policy (NUTP), has accorded approval to the Comprehensive Traffic and Transportation Plan (CTTP) for the City.

Gaurab Gupta, Commissioner for Urban Land Transport, said the CTTP envisages an investment of Rs 46,994 crore for Bangalore over a period of 18 years.

“The BMLTA has also unanimously approved a tie-up with Bangalore City Connect, a non-profit trust, to have a public-private-partnership in respect of certain projects.

The tie-up, ‘Bangalore Traffic and Transport Initiative’, will see City Connect provide at its cost, 200 traffic wardens to be trained and deployed by the traffic police on the road to the new airport at Devanahalli,” Mr Gupta added.

The BMLTA will meet once in two months to deliberate on proposals from civic agencies for integrated solutions to transportation issues in the City.
