Bangalore, dhns:

The BBMP bio-diversity management committee has recommended an amendment to Karnataka Municipal Act to reserve 50 per cent of civic amenities (CA) sites of both BDA and BBMP for tree parks.
The committee headed by environmentalist and retired Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, A N Yellappa Reddy in its monthly meeting held last month, adopted a resolution to send a proposal to the Governor through the Palike Commissioner for an amendment to the Act.
The meeting resolved to write a letter to the BDA Commissioner to reserve at least 50 per cent CA sites for them. The meeting also decided to press the Governor to pass an ordinance to effect an amendment to KMC Act as there is no popular government.
