BANGALORE: In less than a week, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will begin work on the approach I area near Old Madras Road. The structural rehabilitation company hired by the BMRC has already drawn out plans for commencing the first phase of demolitions which will yield a corridor of 1.5 acres to the BMRC. The first phase of demolitions will begin with the police quarters and later go on to the other private housing areas en-route.

The BMRC told The Hindu that it has entrusted the demolitions to a Bangalore-based professional structural rehabilitation company. All the 46 families living in the police quarters have already been shifted to more spacious dwellings in Byappanahalli. The BMRC officials said that further down the Metro corridor on Reach I, passing through CMH Road and Indira Nagar, will see more demolitions.
