Sampige Road to re-open

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) has decided to re-open Sampige Road at Malleswaram Circle for vehicles from Monday.
The road was closed for vehicles due to the work on underpass in Malleswaram circle.
The Palike took this decision at a meeting of senior officers held on Saturday.
Palike commissioner Dr S Subramanya said that a major part of the underpass work has been completed.
Sampige Road will be open for vehicles on Monday. The work will be completed by February 2008, as per the tender notification. The work worth Rs 16.86 crore has been taken up under the Centre’s Jawaharlal Nehru National Renewal Mission. Construction of the 180-metre long underpass began in December 2006, amidst opposition from a section of local people.
According to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike, as on October 25, 60 per cent of the work has already been completed
