Singapore Air to operate morning flights from B`lore

Singapore Airlines will starting three additional flights out of Bangalore to Singapore from October 29, taking the total to 10 flights a week from Bangalore. In addition, its subsidiary, SilkAir, is expected to operate a Singapore-Coimbatore flight from October 28.

Announcing this on Monday, Foo Chai Woo, general manager-India, Singapore Airlines, said, “New flight additions will take our airline frequency to Bangalore to 10 flights a week. New flights to be operated will be the day-light (morning) flights every Monday, Friday and Saturday from Bangalore to Singapore and back.”

“We will be operating Boeing 777-200 aircraft for the route with a three-class configuration - 12 first class seats, 42 business class and 234 economy seats. The additional flights have been designed to cater to customers travelling beyond Singapore especially to the Far East, Australia and United States (San Francisco),” he added.

To make morning flights popular, the airline has come out with special economy fares for travellers from Bangalore to Singapore and to other destinations in Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, Thailand and the US. The special fares come with up to 40 per cent discount on the existing fares.

“Bangalore is one of the fastest growing cities for us, our operations from this city has been growing at a phenomenal pace of 25 per cent to 30 per cent annually, since the launch of our service in 2001. At present, the city offers 60:40 economy and business travel for us,” said Foo.
