TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: Barricading along the entire stretch from Anil Kumble Circle to Trinity Church Junction has been completed. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is all set to begin piling work on the entire stretch.
Now that the testing for putting up piers is over, the authorities are expecting to complete drilling piers on the stretch in two to three months. Once the shifting of Utility lines on the entire alignment of Reach One is complete, barricading will begin.
“After MG Road, we will proceed with barricading on Ulsoor Road, enter CMH Road and then on to Old Madras Road. The whole exercise will take five months. Meanwhile, we will finalise the designs for piers and girders and start manufacturing them at the 5-acre casting yard,’’ BMRCL MD V Madhu told TOI.
Work on this stretch will take around 18 months, and will involve forming piers, putting up pillars and placing viaduct. Civil work for the entire 7-km Reach One between MG Road and Byappanahalli will be over by early 2009.
Near Defence Colony, authorities have fenced the defence land allotted for the project. At the casting yard, construction of cement godown, erection of the first batching plant and calibration of the same has been completed. “The quality control laboratory is in place, building for site office of BMRCL and construction of casting beds etc, are in progress,’’ Madhu said.
The construction of high compound walls at Isolation Hospital, 515 Army Base Workshop, MES Centre on Old Madras Road, and Manekshaw Parade Ground have been completed.
