BANGALORE: Four consortiums have been selected for participation in the tendering process for design, manufacture, supply, testing and commissioning of coaches for the 38.5-km metro rail.

They are Siemens AG, Germany-led consortium with Siemens Ltd., India; Bombardier Transportation GmbH, Germany-led consortium Bombardier Transportation India Ltd., Mumbai; BEML, India-led consortium with ROTEM Company of Korea, Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation of Japan as members; and Alstom Projects, India-led consortium Alstom Transportation, SA, France.
Training

Apart from involving in making the coaches, the selected consortium will have to train the personnel for the Rs. 6,400-crore Bangalore Metro Rail Project.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL), which is implementing the project, has selected the four consortiums out of the seven that had submitted tenders for pre-qualification of contractors for “design, manufacture, supply, testing and commissioning” of passenger rolling stock (electric multiple units) and training of personnel. The tenders were opened on July 28. The four consortiums passed the evaluation criteria prescribed by the BMRCL, said a senior official of the corporation.
