Karnataka Road Development Corporation has floated a tender for conversion of the Bangalore-Mysore four lane road into a six lane road. Public Works and Energy Minister H D Revanna, on Saturday, told reporters that work on the six-lane road would begin in the next two months.
Mr Revanna said that the total expenditure on the road is expected to be around Rs 750 crore. Service roads will be added on either side of the existing four lane road. Entry of vehicles to the main four lane road from service roads will be provided only at certain points. Around 300 acres of land is expected for conversion, while acquisition of necessary land between Mysore and Srirangapatna has already been completed.
Ring road
The minister said tender for Satellite Town Ring road, which connects all town municipal councils in the outskirts of Bangalore, will be issued within 20 days. The total length of the road will be around 400 km and total cost for the work is expected to be Rs 4,000 crore. Mr Revanna said that the work of six lane road connecting Yeshwanthpur and Nelamangala will start within a month.
