Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Bangalore Urban Zilla Panchayat approved a Rs. 118-crore action plan for the district at a meeting held on Saturday. In the meeting, chaired by president T. Venkatalakshmi, 19 villages from three taluks were selected for comprehensive development, under the Suvarna Gramodaya project. A sum of Rs. 17 crore has been sanctioned for the same out of which Rs. 2.85 crore has been released.

Taking cognisance of the pressing development issues, the zilla panchayat is preparing several reports with the help of various non-governmental organisations. Eighteen such reports have been approved by the State Government. The members welcomed the reports but stressed the need to incorporate suggestions of the local people in various taluks.

The issue of stray dogs came up and members alleged that dogs caught in Bangalore had been let loose on the outskirts of the metropolis by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. Concern was raised over the dogs posing a threat to the villagers, especially children. Members demanded that the issue be raised with the BBMP.

T.venkatalakshmi is the best president i have ever known. she is so active and talented, and she is on her best in developing the rural as well as urban areas.and she is really educated too. But renuka gopalakrishna was not educated like this women, but she was given more term of period than venkatalakshmi, that was not fair..at last what i can say is that T.venkatalakshmi is an affective and intelligent women.
