Eternal potholes in city roads

Eternal potholes in city roads

BANGALORE: It is not even 75 days since the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) relaid the city roads. Some roads were tarred under Karnataka Municipal Reforms Project and others on a routine basis following Chief Minister’s instructions.

A survey of city roads revealed the reality. There are more craters and potholes than before. They appeared after the first pre-monsoon rain. Many of them are in the central business district that leads to traffic snarl.

Let’s begin with the seat of power - Vidhana Soudha. If you approach Vidhana Soudha from the Legislative Assembly side, a large crater welcomes you in the middle of newly-tarred road.

Cunningham Road topped with maximum potholes. The one near Sigma Mall has a four-feet radius! Even roads near hospitals, supposed to be mended with care, are no better.

Three gaping potholes right in front of Jain Hospital. Seshadri Road and Race Course Road have their fair share of potholes and craters.

With pre-monsoon showers set to intensify in near future, the plight of travelling public is likely to worsen.

1) A pothole at Vidhana Soudha and Legislative Home Junction. Vikasa Soudha can be seen in the backdrop.

2) Another one opposite Jain Hospital.

3) This one on Cunnigham Road is 4-feet wide.

4) On a cross road on Cunnigham Road near Wockhardt Hospital.

Even after so many people complaining abt bad road conditions continues. This shows the plight of the newly created bengaluru can never become a singapore, it is possible only with very very conscious approach to work quality.

The mind sets have to change, it takes time for the governments to change it. Changes in mindsets of every individuals corporators in BBMP can only change the city.

Will Bangalore become the dream city any time soon... ???? (like one of the worlds best cities) Keep wondering, till then keep writing.

May be government have to go thru the bolgs first before to see the woes of the people, and ponder on what is really needed for them to do.....
