One can choose from the various connecting roads to get to this ‘futuristic’ city, as BMRDA is gearing itself to lay two more long stretches, in addition to the existing roads.

A 36-km eight-lane highway leading to the upcoming international airport in Devanahalli and a 194-km Intermediate Ring Road (IRR) connecting the existing Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the proposed Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) will also adorn the State road map henceforth.

BMRDA, which will be outsourcing both the road projects in keeping with the PPP formula, will however stop at this. As per the agreement, that will be signed by the State and the developer, it’s the responsibility of the company to lay roads within the 9,684 acres earmarked for the township. BMRDA will provide Cauvery water till the periphery of the township. The supply will be undertaken by the developer.

Tenders for the road projects – to be built on the Build Operate and Transfer basis – will be called in the next three to four weeks, while deadlines for the project’s completion will be set accordingly.

Bangalore will also be connected to the township through rail (Bidadi station), the Bangalore-Mysore Road, the NICE Expressway and the NH 209 (Kanakapura Road).

The township will help in shifting a large working population and their families from Bangalore. With the capacity to house 7.5 lakh people, the Knowledge Hub City will considerably ease the population burden of Bangalore.”

“The residential to civic component ratio will be 50:50, but the township will not be a real estate project. Land allotment will be phased, and based on criteria including volume of investment.”

“The land price at the township will be around Rs 2,000 per sq ft, that is less than the price in Bangalore’s upmarket areas.
