Bangalore: Representatives of the Peenya Industries Association (PIA) said here on Thursday that Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) had drawn out a plan to develop water supply and underground drainage in the Peenya industrial area, which according to them did not have proper civic amenities.

A. Padmanabha, immediate past prrsident and Panel Chairman-Infrastructure and Civic Affairs, said BMP Commissioner K. Jairaj had convened a meeting of Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP), Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) officials and office-bearers of PIA on January 9 and it was estimated that the project would cost about Rs. 5.20 crore. BMP would contribute Rs. 2.5 crore for the project while KIADB would give Rs. 2.5 crore. The rest would be contributed by BWSSB. He said the BMP Commissioner had constituted a co-ordination committee to oversee the development and maintenance of civic amenities at the industrial complex, which was now under Greater Bangalore. The work was supposed to be completed in 12 months time.
