As many as five hotels, including one on M G Road, came under the scanner of the BMP health officials on Wednesday.

Ullas Hotel on M G Road (BMP east zone) was ordered to be closed for being slack on hygiene. Officials even found a cockroach in a particular item served at the hotel, according to a BMP press release. A penalty of Rs 10,000 was imposed on the hotel.

Elsewhere, in the south zone (R V Road limits), the following hotels were pulled up for not maintaining the required standards of hygiene: Magic Kabab Centre, Sanman (3 hotels), Adigas, Vijay, D Eat and New Shanthi Sagar. A non-veg hotel at the teachers’ college premises was found running unauthorisedly and was ordered to be closed.
