BMP plans to complete work on four roads by December 31

K. Jairaj says many schemes will be completed by year-end

BANGALORE: Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) will complete by December 31 the civil works started at Kammanahalli Main Road, Mission Road, Langford Road and Koramangala 80-foot road, under the Karnataka Municipal Reforms Project scheme, BMP Commissioner K. Jairaj said here on Thursday.

In a statement here, he said the pending civil works of last year at the ward level would be taken up this year, and those under progress would be completed by December 31.

Also to be completed by that date are the BMP's development works at Eco Park, East Division, Bapujinagar, Jayanagar 8th Block; Deer Park in South Zone and Arundhathinagar, Gayathridevi Park, Iway Park and Pipeline Sharanaseva Samaj Boulevard in West division.

Hutments removed

The Executive Engineer and Assistant Executive Engineer (Gandhinagar) on Thursday removed 20 hutments unauthorisedly put up in the Chikkalalbagh playground coming under ward 27. Also vacated were shops obstructing pedestrian movements on Nagarabhavi Main Road, Moodalapalya Main Road and Kuvempu Circle.

The AEE (Jayanagar) conducted a cleaning operation on the stretch of road from Bannerghatta Road to Kanakapura Road under Jayanagar ward 57. Roads were cleaned, potholes covered, construction debris cleared and road dividers erected.

The AEE (Madiwala) conducted a similar operation and cleared 20 metres of the pavement that had been filled with two lorry loads of construction debris. Two unauthorised shops were vacated.

At Basavanagudi, a structure with basement, ground and two floors built in violation of the approved plan was demolished by the Executive Engineer (Basavanagudi) of South Division.
