BANGALORE: Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise Ltd (NICE) managing director Ashok Kheny on Friday met Chief Secretary Malati Das and apprised her of the progress in the implementation of the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) Project.

NICE is promoting the 111-km BMIC and 41-km peripheral road from Tumkur Road to Hosur Road. A nine-km stretch of the peripheral road was opened for public in June.

Clearances

At the meeting with the Chief Secretary, Mr. Kheny told Ms. Das that the next phase of the project, including the expressway and townships, could only be taken up if certain clearances were granted and land transferred to NICE.

NICE general manager Manjunath Naicker said they also drew attention to the impediments like encroachments and illegal construction on land where the project was meant to come up.

NICE had written to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy last week seeking an appointment with him and the company was directed to meet the Chief Secretary, Mr. Naicker said.
