BANGALORE: Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) Commissioner K Jairaj has initiated measures to take action on deviations in the prestigious mall - Bangalore Central.
The commissioner told this website's newspaper that the civic body took up another inspection which has confirmed the deviations.
But Jairaj did not comment on no follow-up action on an earlier notice sent to the owners of the building. Last year, the assistant executive engineer of Shanthinagar subdivision had set a provisional order to the owner pointing out that the entire fifth floor was illegal.
Another letter from the department of fire services had also pointed out lapses in fire safety measures in the building. Jairaj said that another notice would be sent to the owner soon.
The commissioner said that he would send the resolution adopted by the BMP council on redevelopment of quarters for economically weaker section (EWS) in Kormangala.
Following a report in this website's newspaper, the government had demanded all the resolutions adopted by BMP on the subject.
EWS quarters were declared unsafe three years ago and government had been delaying redevelopment of the tenements.
BMP council during its October meeting had resolved to take up redevelopment on a joint venture. Jairaj said that the resolution would be sent to government along with a note of his observations.
Jairaj said that the new health contracts, that are said to have been awarded without any cost estimates, were in order.
He said that the bids were finalised after evaluation by the consultant IDeCK and all the norms of transparency were followed. However, he could not comment on conflicting versions of BMP and the government on cost estimates.
