BANGALORE: The State government is contemplating to reverse the new helmet rule by making an amendment to the State Motor Vehicles Act after the December 4 by-election to the Chamundeshwari Assembly segment.
The sources told this website’s newspaper, that a decision in this regard is being considered following increasing pressure from the two wheeler users across the five City corporation limits where, the helmets have been made compulsory.
After dilly-dallying for years, the government introduced the helmet rulefrom November 1, in five city corporation limits of Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore, Hubli-Dharawad, Gulbarga and Belgaum. A few days ago, Kumaraswamy had hinted at lifting helmet rule in Mysore after the by-poll.
