Confusion galore on Jayamahal and Nandidurg Roads

Confusion galore on Jayamahal and Nandidurg Roads
New Indian Express

BANGALORE: Even after the two-way traffic was allowed on Jayamahal Road and Nandidurg Road, the motorists were confused about the new directions.

Interestingly, the traffic police opened two-way traffic even as the road-underbridge (RuB) is yet to be completed.

Both Jayamahal Road and Nandidurg Road have become two-way but at the junction near the RuB, the confusion still prevails. The traffic coming from Nandidurg Road is not allowed to cross the Cantonment Junction to go to Jayamahal Road. The motorists were asked to take the road leading to Cantonment Railway station and then take a U-turn to take the single vent of the new RuB.

The old two vents and one new vent have to accommodate a four way traffic and that seems to be the cause of the trouble.

The traffic from Ambedkar Bhavan side can take the new RuB towards Jayamahal Road and the old RuB towards Nandidurg Road but the traffic from Jayamahal Road and Nandidurg Road has to take the old RuB only towards Cantonment station.

Further the confused design of the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) is also apparent. The civic body is building two boxes with two vents each for a fourway traffic and along with the old two vent RuB traffic police would find it hard to direct a four-way traffic.
