Boom time for infrastructure
Slew Of BMP Projects Will Be Inaugurated Soon
The Times of India
Bangalore: After quite a lull in opening up infrastructure projects, the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) is all set to unveil a slew of them for the public.
The much-touted IT/BT roads with their high quality road specifications, will be finally thrown open. Work on these roads began late 2005, and has finally been completed. Apparently, these roads are done up so it does not require any maintenance work for over five years. It has been designed to withstand heavy rain and traffic that leads onto the IT corridors. The IT/BT roads project has been undertaken at a cost of over Rs 50 crore.
Along with these roads, one of the worst-affected roads in last year’s deluge — SJP Road — has also been repaired. The road has been done up with concrete so as to withstand truck traffic that runs to Kalasipalyam. The dilapidated park nearby, SJP Park, has also been given a new look and will be inaugurated soon.
The founder of Bangalore, Kempegowda, has also found a tribute in the form of a Kempegowda Tower that has been constructed at Hudson Circle. The tower also has a statue of Kempegowda holding a sword. The Town Hall nearby, is all set to get a bust of the late thespian Rajkumar.
Facelift for parks
The construction work for the first phase of the Freedom Park, at the erstwhile Central Jail, will begin. The Sankey Tank park, from 18th Cross entrance has been given a facelift and will be opened for the public. The Ulsoor Lake park will also see the unvieling of the Vivekananda statue.
Suvarna khata
On the occasion of Suvarna Karnataka, Suvarna Khata will be launched for Bangaloreans. Billed as a userfriendly measure, the initiative promises a khata in 30 days flat along with all requisite documents, all in a single window-system.
Skywalk
To cater to students and pedestrians at Sheshadri Road, a skywalk has been constructed for the purpose. Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has taken a personal interest in the issue and had, in the past few months instructed officials to speed up work.
All these programmes and projects were supposed to have been inaugurated on November 2 by chief minister H D Kumaraswamy but has been deferred to November 4.

If you want to see the real state of IT in Bangalore, please come to the back side of the famed ITPB near Whitefield. The whole place is a mess. Narrow roads, temporary and unlicensed shacks selling food, mud and heaps of dust make this area a really dirty one. Why can't the authorities bring some order to this place?
