Bangaloreans will now have to dig deeper into their pockets, as the fares for the city taxi services will go up from November 14.

As per the Government Order, the minimum fare has been hiked from Rs 35 to Rs 50, while charges per km travel (day time) has been increased from Rs 9 to Rs 12. Waiting charge for every 15 minutes after the first 20 minutes (the first 20 minutes is free) has been doubled to Rs 10.

However, there is no change in the services.

The Government has taken the decision following increase in fuel prices in recent months, the order stated.

Meanwhile, Karnataka City Taxi Operators Association welcomed the move. Though fuel prices were hiked many times in the recent years, the taxi fare was not increased.

As a result, taxi owners were incurring huge losses, they said.
