EXPRESSWAY TARGET: TO COMPLETE BANGALORE - MYSORE 111-KM STRETCH BY DECEMBER 2007
Deadlines may go haywire
The TImes of India

Close to two months after the inauguration of the first 8.2 km stretch of the 41 km Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor ( B M I C ) peripheral road, work is on at connecting Hosur Road (NH-7) to Kanakapura.

On August 6, BMIC project promoters NICE MD Ashok Kheny inaugurated a temple in Somapura village (peripheral road leading to Mysore Road). As many as 108 seers were present for the inauguration. Somapura villagers had boycotted opening of the peripheral road on June 16 demanding upgradation of the approach road to their village.

The deadline for completion of the 41 km peripheral road is August 15. But there is likelihood of it being delayed by some days.

Reason: According to NICE representatives, the government has not released land near Kembathahalli which serves as a link between Hosur Road and Kanakapura Road.

Civil work on the road leading to Mysore has been stopped for the same reason. Only 2 km road has been laid up to Anepalya. Though the 9 km peripheral road stretch between Kanakapura Road and Mysore Road is open to public, not many vehicles ply on the road.
