Bangalore: From the MS Buildings to government hospitals, from the Karnataka High Court to nationalised banks, from markets to the common man, all in the city will experience massive power disruptions for the next 15 days.

Bescom authorities warned that there will be unscheduled load-shedding due to transformer upgradation to 150 MVA by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation (KPTC) from August 6 at the Rajajinagar power station.

Terming it as a “massive power disruption”, a KPTC official said the work was scheduled to be taken up from April, but was postponed because concern towards students facing examinations and again due to the onset of monsoon.

“We have taken up the work now as the climate is dry and less humid. Though the work is scheduled to go on for 15 days, we may finish it earlier if it does not rain,’’ he said. Load shedding to help add power Rajajinagar Power Station To Be Upgraded Within A Fortnight
Bangalore: The city will experience huge power disruptions over the next 15 days. This is due to upgradation work taken up at the Rajajinagar power station.

The work of increasing the capacity at Rajajinagar station is part of the bigger upgradation work, which will also be taken up in other three stations at
Subramanyapura, HSR Layout and Peenya.

“The power disruption in other stations will not be as massive as in Rajajinagar power station. The other stations have bigger land space, due to which the pace of the work can be fast, which is not possible at the Rajajinagar station,’’ a KPTC official said.

“Though some of the load of Rajajinagar power station is being shifted to Subramayapura station, it is only to a capacity of 5 to 10 megawatt, which is minuscule,’’ added another official.

The 35-year-old station has two transformers of around 100 MVA each and the capacity is being enhanced to 150 MVA each. KPTCL will upgrade the transformer one after the other. This is to ensure that the power supply is not disrupted throughout the day.

There will be unscheduled load shedding in the following areas during the next 15 days:

NORTH RECEIVING STATIONS
Rajajinagar 1st to 6th block, Industrial Estate, Magadi Road, Basaweshwarnagar, Kamalanagar, KHB Colony, Indiranagar slum, JC Nagar, BEML,West of Chord Road, Soap Factory, Yeshwantpur, Okalipuram, Nagappa Block, Sujatha theatre and surrounding areas.

VIJAYANAGAR AREAS:
Chandra Layout, RPC Layout, Nagarbhavi, Kamakshipalya, Prashanth Nagar, Amarjyothinagar, Sunkadkatte, BEL Layout, Kannahalli,Vrushabhavati Nagar, Maruthi Nagar and Magadi main road.

CHANDRA LAYOUT AREAS:
