Barista doors to remain closed

Coffee joint violated building bye-laws, says BMP

BARISTA, a favourite hangout of coffee lovers on M G Road, downed its shutters following an order of the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP), which has charged the coffee house with violating build bye-laws.

According to BMP joint commissioner (East) N Jayaram, those establishments that had erected tem rary or permanent sheds, violating BMP building by laws, had been ordered to close down.

So far, around five such commercial establishments have been shut in complexes and commercial malls.

Jayaram said that these commercial establishm were directed to stop their activities on Friday a were conducting roaring business on the set back a which were earmarked for movement of people.

"The set back areas of buildings should be kept fr easy movement," he added.

He said that he had directed the BMP officials to pare a list of commercial establishments which had lated the BMP building bye-laws.

It may be recalled that Vasanthnagar corporator M Gunashekar caught the attention of the BMP Council raising an issue that there has been rampant viola building bye-laws.
