Bangalore: Bangaloreans at Rs 55.15 per litre have been badly hit by the fuel price hike.

In Delhi, petrol costs Rs 47.51 per litre, in Kolkata, it’s just over Rs 51 while in Mumbai are petrol costs Rs 53.50 per litre. So, at Rs 55.15, Bangalore will paying up a lot more than the other cities.

Heavy traffic, poor roads, many one-ways and now a fuel price hike to add to people's woes.

And the price hike has hit the city, which adds over 800 new vehicles to its roads everyday hard.

"Really, this is worst for people. The government is just thinking of high profile people not the middle class," says a Bangalorean.

"It's not good for the common man," says another.

The consumers are obviously unhappy, but the dealers too are sufferers.

"With the price increase the dealers. Many dealers are going to close their shops or commit suicide. That is because the commission is not in commiserating with the price hike," says owner of a petrol pump.

After the price hike, a litre of ordinary petrol costs Rs 55.15 while the Xtra premium petrol comes at Rs 56.80 a litre. And normal diesel costs Rs 37.71 for a litre while Xtra Mile costs Rs 38.21.

However, in spite of petrol now costing a fortune, no one seems to be ready to leave their bikes and go for cycles.

It is going to take more than just a fuel price hike to stall a city that is always on the move.
