BANGALORE: Detailed reports for three projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in Bangalore have been prepared, Subash Chandra, Secretary of the Department of Urban Development, said here on Saturday.

Speaking on JNNURM at an event organised by The Indian Institute of Public Administration, Mr. Chandra said the detailed project reports for three projects with an estimated cost of Rs. 1,397 crore were ready.

The projects include the development of a storm water drain network for Rs. 711 crore, development and extension of road networks for Rs. 513 crore and improvement of water supply and underground drainage system within the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike limits for Rs. 173 crore.

Sixty-three cities have been chosen for the JNNURM of which Bangalore and Mysore are the two cities selected by the Centre from Karnataka. For Bangalore, the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike had proposed projects under various sectors, totalling Rs. 14,000 crore for seven years.

Mr. Chandra said as a first step towards implementing JNNURM in Mysore, the city has prepared a city development plan, which has been sent to the Centre for appraisal.

He said the city had also prepared detail project reports for augmentation of water supply to the city by tapping into the Kabini reservoir. .
