Bangalore: It’s action time. The interface between residents and civic authorities is paying off. If citizens are reporting problems in the media, authorities are taking prompt action.

After a report in last week’s TOI on debris dumped near drains in Munireddy street at J C Nagar, the resident, Ahmed, wrote to TOI to say that action had been taken. “I thank the BMP for getting rid of this problem; it was finally cleared on Thursday.’’

Meanwhile at Puttenahalli, infamous for being perennially plagued with problems, here’s what citizen Parthasarathy (an 84-year resident who had got potholes on the road filled up at his own expense) called up TOI to say that all the noise about problems had finally paid off. “After a sustained campaign by the media, they have started work.
