Bangalore:
Police on T h u r s d ay stated that crime rate was under control in the city. But robbers and burglars had a field day on the same day!

Two miscreants stabbed a provision shop owner, Indra Balan, and his assistant Chakravarthy in Viveknagar when they were returning home on a two-wheeler and robbed them of Rs 40,000.

Miscreants first threw chilli powder on their eyes and stabbed Balan when he refused to give the money.
In another incident, four rickshaw-borne armed men stopped two men — Lokesh and Rajagopal — in Koramangala VI Block and robbed their gold chain, bracelet, Rs 6,000 in cash, a watch and cellphone at knife point. The victims were returning home after having dinner outside.

House burgled: Cash and jewellery, worth over Rs 1 lakh, were stolen from the house of one Sambashiva in Akkayamma Layout in R T Nagar. The incident happened when Sambashiva’s wife, Parvathi, had gone to a vegetable market. She saw the burglar leaving the house upon arrival. The burglar had entered the house after breaking the main door, the police said.

Gold chain snatched: A miscreant snatched a gold chain worth over Rs 10,000 from a woman identified as Jayamma in HRBR Layout when she was returning home from work. The victim, a resident of Kamamnahalli, works as a domestic help in HRBR Layout.

Cop suspended
Kengeri police inspector Gopal has been suspended on charges of misconduct. He had detained three women and allegedly harassed them.

Following a complaint by the women in January, an inquiry was held by DCP (West) Sharath Chandra. Gopal had registered a case of immoral trafficking against the trio in November and illegally detained them in the station. He had allegedly kept their apartment key. He stole Rs 29,000 from their apartment, which later he promised to repay in installments. However, he failed to do so.
