Bangalore: The entire stretch of the inner core ring road (ICRR) will be an elevated one. This was decided at a review meeting attended by the Empowered Committee on Infrastructure and the chief secretary on Friday.
The new plan envisages an east-west and a north-south corridor for the ICRR. The east-west one starts at KR Puram and comes up to Yeshwantpur while the north-south corridor runs from Electronic City to Madivala and then joins Shoolay Circle. From here, commuters can take a detour to St John’s Road and to Bagalur thereon. This project is meant to decongest the burgeoning traffic in many central parts.
R K Mishra, member of the Empowered Committee of Infrastructure said, “This will be done on a DeBOOT basis. The government will call for an expression of interest in two months. The project will be undertaken by a Special Purpose Vehicle.’’
