Encashing on the huge talent pool in the high tech city of Bangalore, BearingPoint, one of the world's largest management and Technology consultancy firms, has opened its Global Development Centre aiming to it build as its global hub.

BearingPoint Executive Vice President Joni Kahn told newsmen here that the current strength of 100 at the Centre would increase ten fold over the next couple of years as BearingPoint would have 1000 strong work force.

Without disclosing numbers Ms Khan said that significant investment was planned for the Bangalore operations and efforts would also be on enhancing the strength in other Indian Cities. But the focus would be in Bangalore, she said stating that the presence in the city underscored BearingPoint's commitment to serve clients with some of the best resources and talent available worldwide.

BearingPoint has presence in Chennai where it was functioning out of its partner Covansys.

The new state of the Art facility covering an area of 55,000 sq ft could accommodate over 600 people. The centre would allow BearingPoint to offer clients a versatile service facility with a deep resource pool.

Ms Kahn said India was an increasingly important part of BearingPoint's ability to execute on its global strategy to offer best service to clients. The Bangalore facility offered a cutting edge platform for expanding the company's capability in the global market.

The Indian centre with 325 staff was currently executing 35 projects, she said.

The Centre would offer full service abilities in sectors such as banking, insurance, telecom, retail, oil, manufacturing, hi-tech, life sciences and software product development. Capabilities include software development, ERP implementation, Application Integration and Management and Business Process Outsourcing.

Ms Khan said the company aimed to shift some of its application managed services to India from its Mississippi development Centre in the US.
