TRA VELLING by buses will no longer be tiresome if the Bangalore Metropolitan T ransport Corporation (BMTC) does what it has promised to.

It looks like this is a promise that the BMTC intends to keep as it has already introduced three new V olvo buses in the City .

The three buses, which have been dressed in a coat of glittering red , will ensure that passengers have a comfortable and safe journey .

At present, the BMTC has introduced just three V olvo buses. However , it plans to introduce more buses in future. The move, the corporation hopes, will go a long way in making travel within the City limits more pleasant.

Each bus can accommodate over 90 passengers. The buses, which have eco-friendly features, also have an air-conditioning system and facilities to play music. Authorities are hoping that these buses, which produce little or no noise, will make vehicle users switch over to using public transport.

A robust and dependable design structure promotes high-operating reliability . The bus, with low-entry in the front and the middle, is disable friendly as it is just 350 mm high above the road level.

The buses have been designed keeping in mind the safety of the driver also. The adjustable driver’s seat, which is the most comfortable in the bus, helps the driver concentrate more on the roads.

A television screen fixed in front of the driver’s seat provides the driver a clear view of the vehicles right behind the bus.

Also, the modern electronic system of the bus, provides important information about the vehicle to the driver , owner and service personnel.

Other features of the Volve bus:

4 Meets Euro 3 environmental requirements.

4 The technology adopted from V olvo’s larger tourist coaches has been introduced to make a highly regarded chassis even better .

4 The bus is easy to drive and offers excellent road holding. Like all V olvo buses, it has a high safety level, further boosted by powerful brakes with disc brakes on all wheels, roll stabilisers and a redesigned suspension system.

4 The rear suspension is entirely new and contributes to a more comfortable drive and more secure road holding. The maximum steering angle for the V olvo City bus is 50 degrees, which further improves maneuverability .
