CM sends a warning to land mafia

CM sends a warning to land mafia
The Times of India

Bangalore: Investigate all land scams, including the ones involving me: This is the diktat that chief minister H D Kumaraswamy issued to officials on Friday.

“They have named me in the Gupta market scam. I want the officials to investigate even this case. Whenever any big building is constructed, politicians’ names are instantly attached to the project. Rowdy elements are hand in glove with the land mafia,’’ the CM said in his first public gathering which happened to be the inauguration of the flyover at Ananda Rao Circle.

He did not spare the policemen either. “Police who have to give security to the citizens have nexus with the land mafia. Such officials will be shifted out of Bangalore.’’

S o u rc e s said the CM will form a task force to look into the land scam cases. It will be headed by a senior police officer who has handled cases like the STAMPIT.

As a first step towards taking the bureaucracy into confidence, he exhorted the officials not to take up development projects propelled by political compulsions. “Do not succumb to any political pressure. Do it only in the interest of the citizens. Otherwise, projects taken up under political patronage will turn out to be a costly affair. Let the projects have the say of citizens rather than that of the politicians.’’ His next message to officials: “Do not allot sites to people who already have 10 sites. Allot sites to landless residents of Bangalore.’’
