Police still groping in the dark

Bangalore: Four days after the terror strike at the IISc campus, the police are still groping in the dark. The police top brass maintained on Saturday that no person has been arrested or taken into custody in the city in connection with the incident.

One person, hailing from Mangalore, was reportedly detained by city police on Friday evening. However, Police Commissioner Ajai Kumar Singh said, “No arrests have been made so far. Nobody has been taken into custody. The reports are false. A police team is in Hyderabad for investigation.’’

Sources, however, said that some persons are being questioned for any information on the incident. “Questioning is part of any investigation.’’

The investigating team, among the several angles in the probe, is also looking into the possibility of the involvement of some locals. “We are looking into whether any locals had provided logistics in terms of location details or presence of important personalities at the IISc campus. If it is an outsider, it is not possible to execute such operations without information from locals,’’ the sources said.

They added that investigators are looking at whatever little clues have been found here. Old intelligence inputs on activities in South India are being looked at seriously.

The Police Commissioner had said on Friday that there “was no information on cellphone conversation so far.’’ The investigators are trying to gather information on cellphone numbers through intelligence inputs and questioning of some persons.
