Celebrations galore

Celebrations galore
The Times of India

Bangalore: Against the setting sun of 2005, Bangalore partied into 2006 with a wish and a prayer. The celebrations were a mix of silent home sit-downs and the loud rave parties.

Head-banging music and neon lights screamed the night away with many guzzling down bottles of booze, but there were many who preferred to stay at home or watch DVDs and drink hot chocolate as the clock struck midnight. Of course, armed policemen and security agencies were almost everywhere, checking all.

The hep five-star parties were all about a lush of colours. But black seemed to define the most fashionable β€” making the style statement at most parties.

A wholesome affair each year and good company, fresh voices to mingle pleasantly with familiar ones.
On other days of the year, we are kind of serious, with likes and dislikes, parties were full of chatter about the year gone by. Many may have maintained their subtle differences, often with warm, and sometimes with angry feelings. But for the moment all were Bangaloreans; and nothing but Bangaloreans.

As Saturday night approached the end of another year, many got out of their homes to reach various clubs and party zones to sashay to the rocking music. For many, the celebrations will continue tomorrow. Others had a quiet family get-together.

The new beginning will be marked by a visit to the temple or church. β€œIt is the beginning of another wonderful year and my family is going to start the day by visiting a temple,’’ said Rahul P.

M G Road by evening was converted to Times Square. The fun and excitement on the new year night on M G Road and Brigade Road can drive even the most quiet to shake a leg.

The whistles, screams and group dances there, filled up the whole scene with a lot of excitement. Most walkers, clad in warm clothes, remained silent spectators and enjoyed the many other having a good time. And then the entry into 2006 was marked by bursting lots of of crackers. As the big hour drew closer, the noise of fire crackers only increased.
