Allottees make a beeline to Arkavathi Layout
Vijay Times
T is a dream come true for more than 600 site allottees at the Arkavathi Layout, who have received the allotment letters in the first phase from the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).
T he BDA started the much awaited site allotment process from Dec 31. More than 2,000 of the 20,000 allottees have been shortlisted under the first phase.
As soon as the allotment letters reached them, the allottees have been rushing to the layout, to have a look at their site. When this reporter went round the layout, workers were seen erecting the name boards indicating the number of a particular block with site numbers of the allotted plot indicated on it.
BDA has made allotments of more than 2,000 sites covering all dimensions in 14 of the 22 packages, in areas that are free from litigation.
BDA engineers are supervising the civil works which are on in full swing in all the packages. W orks on numbering of sites, road formation, construction of storm water drain, lead off drain and culverts are being expedited.
Allottees have been thronging K Narayanapura village, Srirampura, V enkateshpura and Thanisandra since Monday to ascertain their allotment.
"W e were surprised to see some of the allottees coming here as soon as they received the allotment letters on Monday . They were eager to seek information on the number of sites allotted here, regarding civil works and other packages etc.,"a BDA official who was supervising the layout formation works at V enkateshpura told BVT .
As part of the layout formation, BDA is also developing a 2-Km stretch of 100 feet Thanisandra Main Road.
With the project running into rough weather following a single bench order in the High Court quashing the layout formation, BDA had returned the initial deposit money it had collected from the 20,000 shortlisted allottees. The Authority had stopped all civil work in the layout during the legal wrangle. However , the dispute that bedevilled the project ended on Nov 25, 2005, with the High Court ruling in favour of the layout formation.
Speaking to BVT , BDA Commissioner M N Vidyashankar said more than 600 letters have been despatched till T uesday . The remaining letters will be despatched on Wednesday and all the shor tlisted allottees will receive the letters by next Monday .
The allotments are based on the seniority of the shor tlisted applicants, whose names figured in the provisional list announced before the judge ment of a single judge of the High Cour t on April 15, 2005, he added.
lThe allotment details are available on the BDA website - www .bdabangalore.org and at the e-Pragati kiosks at the BDA head office and HBR complex.
lThe allotment list are posted on the notice board of the PRO office and at the BDA’s divisional offices at Vijayanagar complex, Banashankari complex, Koramangala complex and R T Nagar complex.
