Auto drivers promise safety of passengers
Deccan Herald
If auto drivers keep their resolution that they took on Tuesday, you will never complain about their rash driving again.
Nearly 500 auto drivers took out a rally, as part of the on-going Road Safety Week on Tuesday, promoting the need to follow traffic rules and maintaining safety.
They also took a 15-point pledge, promising to ensure safety of passengers, adherence to rules, stop overcharging, control pollution, stop using kerosene as fuel and not use mobile phones while driving.
The rally was organised by Karnataka Rajiv Gandhi Auto Chalakara Vedike.
One more rally
Four ‘Ashwamedha’ autorickshaws will ply across the four zones in Bangalore, spreading awareness on road safety, for the next one week. The Vedike is planning to hold a similar rally on a larger scale on January 29 to mark the organisation’s anniversary.
“We have mobilised 400 autos for the Safety Week celebrations, but all our 8,000 members will participate in the January-end rally,” B Chandrashekhar, general secretary of the Vedike said.
