A bill to bring seven city municipal corporations (CMCs) in Bangalore under the Greater Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will be introduced in the coming Karnataka budget session.

Karnataka minister for municipal administration S R More on Monday told reporters that the final draft is under preparation and will be placed before the Cabinet for approval shortly.

Seven CMCs including Kengeri CMC are to be brought under the jurisdiction of Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP). With this the number of corporation wards will go up to 150 from the present 100.

More said that the Rs 1,800 crore Karnataka municipal reforms project funded by World Bank will be launched in April.

With this, the basic infrastructure in seven the seven municipal areas will be taken up in Phase I, under which services like drinking water and sanitation will be improved, More said. The government has also decided to request Asian Development Bank (ADB) to enhance its assistance from $400 million to $460 million to take up reforms in 25 towns and cities in North Karnataka.
