BANGLAORE: Soon Lalbagh Botanical Garden employees will have wireless handsets to co-ordinate fieldwork.
Lalbagh officials feel the use of wireless handsets will help monitor the work inside the 240 acres of gardens.
At present, the staff will use four handsets on a trial basis for a week. It will be used by the communication staff, senior officers, workers and also by security men.
For security reasons, the handsets will be useful to check on the parking lots and to tighten security. The response will be immediate in case of emergencies.
“We will benefit specially during garden inspections. We can immediately inform the person concerned within seconds if any problem arises. It can be regarding electricity connection, water leaks or in garden work,” said an official.
There is a need for at least 15 to 20 handsets, sources said. No companies have been shortlisted for the supply of the handsets, they added.
Officials will work out the effectiveness and estimate the cost feasibility of procuring these handsets, they said.
