Chief Minister N Dharam Singh stated here on Sunday that the Comprehensive Development Plan for Bangalore was being revised and would be finalised soon.

Speaking to mediapersons, who met him here on Sunday, Mr Dharam Singh, who was here to attend some private functions, stated that the CDP was being prepared in the wake of the problems faced by the City during the recent rains.

Stating that Bangalore had received the highest rains in the last 104 years, the Chief Minister said, South Bangalore was affected the most.

This was mainly because of illegal and haphazard construction, which had blocked the natural drains.

Many of these areas still come under the surrounding City Municipal Councils (CMCs), he said.

The owners of these buildings had taken permission from the respective CMCs to construct them.

“The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) had no control over them,” he added.

Considering this problem, the existing CDP was being revised so as to bring these new areas under the BMP, he said.

He stated that the contract for preparing the CDP had been assigned to a French firm. The firm had finalised the CDP taking into consideration the green belt and objections have been called for, if any, from the public. “Once this is over, the CDP would get the nod of the government and would be implemented,” he added.
