Bangalore: The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) has begun road development work under two projects which are slated for completion before June 2005.

Under the Rs 140 crore World Bank funded project where the strengthening and rehabilitation of 40 arterial and sub-arterial roads running up to 130 km are being taken up, work has commenced on seven roads comprising 29 km at a cost of Rs 31.5 crore.

The following are the roads under construction:

Kammanahalli main road from Maruti Sevanagar to 100 feet Ring Road; Ejipura main road near Infant Jesus Church to Sarjapura main road; NR Square to Hosur Road via Mission Road, Blood Bank Road and Langford Road; Bannerghatta Road from Lasker Hosur Road to 100 feet Ring Road in JP Nagar III phase; Katriguppa main road from 100 feet ring road to Vidyapeeta Circle; Paadarayanapura main road from Tank Bund road to Chord Road; Magadi road from Mysore deviation road to Sunkadakatte.

Facelift for 19 roads

Of the 19 roads taken up for improvement in the IT-BT corridor, 10 roads will be taken up under the first phase by the Karnataka Land Army Corporation.

These are: Brigade Road junction to Trinity Circle; Dickenson road; Airport road from 100 feet junction to Suranjan Das Road junction; JB Nagar main road, Indiranagar 12th main road up to Cambridge layout; Ulsoor Road; National Games Village to Forum; Magrath Road; Mayo Hall junction to Lifestyle junction; Old Madras Road to Airport Road; Indiranagar 100 feet road to 20th main road.
Work on three roads have commenced and will be completed by mid-January.
