BANGALORE: The time granted by the High Court for clearing off violations of zonal regulations and building bye-laws in 87 buildings of Koramangala is coming to an end and BCC is working at war-footing to meet the deadline of November 7.
A Division Bench of High Court headed by Chief Justice N K Sodhi had directed BCC to remove violations in 87 buildings in 3rd, 5th and 6th blocks of Koramangala within three months from its order on Sept 2, 2005.
The Order was following a PIL by some Heart Specialist Deviprasad Shetty and some other residents of Koramangala who are involved in Koramangala Residents’ Civil Group and Save Koramangala Initiative.
The petitioners had brought to the notice of the Court that the premises zoned for residential use in the said 87 buildings were being used for commercial purposes.
The BCC had confirmed the allegations of the petitioners by a survey report prepared in cooperation with BDA. Then the Court gave a time-span of three months to issue notices and take action accordance to prescribed procedures against the violations.
The action of BCC, on Saturday, touched the premises of one of the petitioners, Suresh Patil too, with the civic body demolishing some of the temporary structures on his premises.
It needs to be mentioned that the Court had specifically directed to survey all other buildings in Kormangala area including that of the petitioners, for correcting possible violations.
A comprehensive survey report regarding entire Koramangala area is also due to the Court from the BCC on November 7.
