Gowda blames Krishna govt for rain havoc
Deccan Herald

Training his guns on former chief minister S M Krishna, JD (S) leader H D Deve Gowda on Thursday alleged that the previous government was responsible for the rain woes of the people as “infrastructure was completely neglected by corrupt politicians and bad administrators.”

Speaking to reporters after his two-day visit to rain-affected areas in and around Bangalore on Thursday, Mr Gowda even invited Congress President Sonia Gandhi to visit the rain-hit areas in the city to assess the problems “which have been created by the Krishna government.” He remarked that natures’s fury was due to bad administrators and corrupt politicians.

“The previous government was unable to evict encroachers on BDA and BMP lands in spite of High Court orders. The land sharks had managed to grab as well as sell government land near canals, valleys and tank beds by forging documents.

At the same time, Mr Gowda termed the rain havoc as a result of “complete collapse of administration.” He suggested that new houses should be constructed by the civic agencies concerned to rehabilitate the rain-affected people.

CMCs under BMP

Mr Gowda said the city outskirts were worst affected due to the misuse of funds by CMCs and suggested that all the seven CMCs around Bangalore could be brought under the purview of Bangalore Mahanagara Palike.

Observing that the city would require Rs 5,000 crore for upgrading infrastructure, he suggested that a Comprehensive Development Plan should be worked out.
