‘European-style’ footpaths on three major roads

Bangalore: Private parties will adopt and maintain footpaths on three important roads — MG Road, Ulsoor Road and Dickenson Road — for five years.
At a meeting of the ‘Empowered Committee on Infrastructure and Traffic Management’, it was announced that these roads would be redone in ‘European style’ and maintained for five years.
Three major builders have come forward to adopt the footpaths. Specifications for their maintenance have been given; it will have shoulder drains, kerbs, maintenance chambers among other things.
Footpaths on Brigade Road, Vital Mallya Road and Madras Bank Road will also be taken up for maintenance soon.
Road work completion:
Of the 19 roads that are being repaired, work orders have been issued to spruce up M G Road, Airport Road and Koramangala 20th Main Road. Works will be over by December 15.
Works on Magarath Road, Indiranagar 80 ft Road, Indiranagar 12th Main, Koramangala I A Cross, Koramangala 5th Cross, Jeevanbima Nagar are awaiting finance department approval. The Land Army will take up both works. For the remaining nine roads, shortterm tenders will be called.
