BANGALORE: Residents of J P Nagar, Kothanur, are going on a hunger strike on October 2, to protest the pathetic condition of the Kothanur Dinne main road.

The road was to be repaired by the City Municipal Council, Bommanahalli, some months ago. Residents are complaining that the road, 80 feet wide, runs as narrow as 20 feet at some stretches, thanks to large potholes and digging. A large 11 KVA electric line runs through the middle of the road and residents say it is extremely dangerous for commuters. Another issue that they are concerned about is the municipal’s soft spot for independent private apartments in teh area.

High multi-storeyed buildings like Brigade South, South City (L & T) and Puravankara are coming up by the side of the road, and they get 24/7 water supply, mocking the lower-middle class residents in the surrounding areas.

RBI Colony residents paid huge sums for water supply and other civic amenities but still haven’t received any assurance from the Bangalore Development Authority.

K S Ramachandra, 79 years old, will be sitting on a hunger strike for an entire day near State Bank of Mysore, Puttenahalli Branch, on October 2.
