Upgradation of drainages

Upgradation of drainages
Deccan Herald

Bannerghatta Road residents, whose houses were flooded with rainwater last month, thanks to an overflowing storm water drain, can now heave a sigh of relief. The BMP, along with Bommanahalli CMC, BWSSB and the Forest Department, has launched a four-point programme to upgrade drainage facilities in these low-lying areas.

The agenda includes desilting of storm water drain near Ranka Colony and Pride Apartments, implementation of rainwater harvesting in surrounding apartment blocks, acquisition of land around the canal to facilitate its widening and awareness campaigns aga-inst dumping waste into storm water drains. The BMP is also planning to construct a three-feet-high parapet wall in critical points to discourage dumping of garbage and construction material. A three to five feet-high fencing will also be provided over the wall.
