Fast-track road upgradation project has started to move. The Karnataka Land Army Corporation (KLAC) submitted its cost and time estimates on development of four ‘priority A’ roads in the City on Tuesday, as specified after the meeting between the government and the IT companies last week.

The KLAC has quoted around Rs 3.8 crore for reconstruction of footpaths. The estimates for road construction will be submitted in two-three days, in consultation with the BMP, KLAC Joint Director S V Venkatesh Murthy revealed. The work is expected to be completed within two months.

The roads targetted as ‘priority A’ include the stretch between Brigade Road junction and Trinity Road junction, Airport Road, Koramangala 20th Main and Ulsoor Road.

Meanwhile, the State government’s approval for allowing BMP an exemption from the Transparency Act is still awaited.

If the exemption is granted, then the BMP can skip the tendering process and award the upgradation work to KLAC.

Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Engineer-in-Chief P K Srihari clarified that the decision to award the road upgradation project to KLAC was decided in the third empowerment committee meeting between the government and IT representatives and the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike had no role to play in this decision.

** Details:

* Road work between Trinity Circle and Brigade Road junctions -

Rs 39.75 lakh

* Old Madras Road to Airport Rd junction - Rs 36.25 lakh

* Koramangala 20th Main - Rs 1.85 crore

* Ulsoor Road - Rs 1.19 crore

* Time required for completion - 2 months
