Chaotic scenes at Lalbagh flower show
Bangalore: Chaos reigned supreme on Monday, the last day of the Independence Day flower show both inside and outside Lalbagh gardens, with a record 1.5 lakh visitors turning up and hundreds of vehicles getting stuck in huge traffic jams.
They came from everywhere to witness the joyous riot of colours at the show. And by afternoon, there were uncontrollable crowds, and attempts to bring some order failed when there was a heavy downpour.
There were several complaints of eve-teasing.
The worst affected stretch was the one km road from the West gate to the Main gate when scores of vehicles were seen trying to beat the snarl by overtaking, totally blocking the opposite traffic. Traffic cops were at the wits’ end to regulate the choc-a-bloc traffic. There were traffic snarls throughout Double Road and Hosur Road up to the Dairy Circle. The arrival of several BJP leaders including Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani for the funeral of RSS leader H V Seshadri at Chamrajpet crematorium in the afternoon also led to traffic disruptions.
