Residents rally around with civic woes

Residents rally around with civic woes

Deccan Herald

Fed up with the lack of basic civic amenities in their locality, residents of Amruthnagar near Hebbal took out a protest rally on Saturday.

The residents shouted slogans against the CMC, demanding the authorities concerned to provide them with proper civic facilities like drinking water and street lighting. The ‘Nagara Sabha Chalo’ that began at the Government High School Grounds in Amruthnagar culminated at the CMC office in Byatarayanapura. Nearly 271 residents participated in the rally.

A memorandum listing their demands was also submitted to Mr Ganesh Reddy, CMC Standing Committee Chairman.

The residents were protesting against acute drinking water shortage and poorly-lit roads in their locality. Lack of good drainage system that got pronounced during monsoons when rainwater stagnated at the end of each road causing traffic blocks and mosquito menace also formed a part of their woes.

The stench emanating from the tank in Amruthahallikere due to overburdening of sewage water from both Sahakaranagar and Amruthnagar areas was another another reason behind residents hitting the streets.
