‘Coin dispenser’ makes parking on Brigade Road easier
Deccan Herald

Life will be relatively easier, the next time you visit Brigade Road. For, what is added to the list of the various kinds of vending machines, will make your hunting-for-loose-change while parking, a thing of the past.

Say hello to the newly-installed Rs 5 coin dispenser, placed near the entrance of Sony Showroom, on Brigade Road.

This machine will cough up as many Rs 5 coins as you may need for getting a parking ticket from the various automated parking machines.

24-hr service

This Note-to-Coin changer- that resembles a grey cabinet which has been installed by Brigades Shops and Establishments Association, accepts currencies in denomination of Rs 10, Rs 50 and Rs 100 and is operational round the clock. This user-friendly machine has a tiny slot for inserting the bank-notes and the service provided is free.

Incidentally, all the eight automated parking machines installed, in June 2004, on Brigade Road, accept only Rs 5 coins, even if you buy a parking ticket for Rs 20 (Rs 5x4), for two hours.

According to the Secretary of Brigades Shops and Establishments Association, Suhail Yusuff, the machine costing Rs 3.6 lakh was installed after several cases of visitors trying to bribe the security guards, to extend their parking time without making any payment were reported.

A similar coin dispensing machine will be placed at the other end of Brigade Road, near Hotel Monarch.

Coin vending machines have already been installed at the City Railway Station.
