NEW DELHI: The e-cities of Bangalore and Chennai will soon be connected with one more high-speed fully-air conditioned train - the new Shatabdi Express from Bangalore to Chennai - which will be inaugurated next month in Bangalore.
Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu told this website’s newspaper that another Shatabdi is being introduced as passenger traffic on this 361-km route has increased due to the opening of more IT industries in the two cities in the last few years. The fare in the AC chair-car will be Rs 505 per head without any concession.
The train will leave Bangalore early in the morning and reach Chennai in the afternoon. In the return direction, it will leave Chennai after a few hours and reach Bangalore by night.

The Bangalore-Chennai Shatabdi will operate six days a week.
Presently Chennai and Bangalore are directly connected by as many as five trains which include the Brindavan Express, Lalbagh Express, Bangalore Express, Bangalore Passenger, Bangalore Mail. Besides these, the Mysore-Chennai Express and the Bangalore-Guwahathi Express (via Chennai) links the two State capitals.
