Bangalore: One person was electrocuted in Cubbon Park on Tuesday. So, how do the authorities react to the tragedy? They pass the buck.

Bescom officials blamed the BCC; the corporation trained guns on the horticulture department; the horticulture officers blamed the PWD.

Horticulture director G.K. Vasanth Kumar on Wednesday said: “The PWD’s assistant executive engineer is in charge of electrical maintenance here. Our horticulture officers are only good at tending plants not electrical equipment.’’

Horticulture minister Alangoor Srinivas, when contacted in Sagar, said he was busy (with by-elections in Shimoga). He said: “I am not aware of heavy rains in Bangalore or the electrocution. I will have the matter probed. The department will give compensation to the victim’s family.’’ However, as of Wednesday, there was no mention of any compensation.
